About Computing at ETSU
The Department of Computing at ETSU
The Department of Computing has been a part of ETSU for more than 40 years. Like the computer industry itself, we have experienced continual change. We strive to offer our students a balance between contemporary skills and computer science theory that will enable them to be prepared to enter the current job market and to have the knowledge to absorb the necessary concepts to advance in their careers.
Computing Graduate and Undergraduate Programs
Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, and Cybersecurity. Core classes are shared by all concentrations in Computing. These include the topics of programming, computer organization, database management, and software engineering. The choice of electives and concentration create a customized education for Computing Professionals.
The concentrations of Applied Computer Science and Information technology share a core of software engineering classes. Computer and Information Science degrees on the graduate level will have both electives and specialized courses.
A typical CSCI Undergraduate program at ETSU lasts four years. Upon receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Computing, students may choose to further their education in the graduate program, which typically lasts two years.
