Digital Media
The Digital Media Center, located in a wing of The James and Nellie Brinkley Center, is a modern building built in 2000. It houses four digital media labs along with nine offices. The Digital Media Center is located on the north side of State of Franklin Rd. from main campus and is reachable by a pedestrian bridge.
Lab #195 has a built-in green-screen area and a small prop room. The green screen area is specifically wired to support a lighting grid. All labs have power and network drops integrated into the flooring and walls.
The Digital Media department maintains workstations and monitors capable of handling high-end processing. This demand comes from the use of industry standard software and output formatting (rendering) required by digital media students. All hardware, software, furniture, and incidental costs, such as wear and tear replacement items, are paid for by the digital media fee. Such items include:
- replacement of all workstations and monitors every three years
- annual updates of all software licenses
- replacement of keyboards and mice as needed
- desks and chairs
- presentation monitors
- maintenance of equipment room items, includes;
- 40 DSLR cameras and lenses
- tripods
- light kits
- wireless mic kits
- boom mics
- projectors
- steady cam rigs
- miscellaneous production gear
