Program Overview

East Tennessee State University’s Department of Physical Therapy offers the sports residency through the ETSU Health Physical Therapy Clinics and local partnerships with High school and University sports.

The program is 12 months in length and prepares the resident for clinical practice in Sports physical therapy. Successful completion of the residency qualifies the resident to sit for the board certification exam in Sports administered by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists (ABPTS).

Salary and benifits are provided through ETSU
The program is in development mode aims to start the first cohort in July 2025

Teaching experiences within the ETSU DPT program

Variety of mentors with varying backgrounds and specialties

150 minimum hours of clinical mentoring

200 on the field coverage hours
