What degree do I need to have to apply for the program?
The Traditional program of study is for students who have an undergraduate degree in a major other than Social Work (non-BSW). The Advanced Standing program of study is for students who have a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree from accredited Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) social work program subsequent to 1984.How long will it take to complete the MSW?
- Full-time study is only offered on-campus. Part-time programming is offered on-campus and off-campus.
- The Traditional full-time program of study is two years. On-campus, the Traditional part-time program of study is slotted for four years. Off-campus, the Traditional part-time program of study is three years.
- The Advanced Standing full-time program of study is three semesters. Both on-campus and off-campus, the Advanced Standing part-time program of study is two years.
- All degree requirements must be completed within six years.
Where and when will I attend classes?
- Main Campus classes typically meet mid-afternoon or evenings Monday – Thursday.
- Sevierville classes typically meet on Monday or Tuesday evenings.
Is there an internship?
Yes. Traditional students have two internships and Advanced Standing students have one internship. The Field Director meets individually with every student the semester prior to entering field.How do I apply?

When is the application deadline?
The deadline is 4:30 pm (ET) April 1st.Is the ETSU MSW program accredited?
Yes, the ETSU MSW Program is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Can I work while completing the program?
The part-time programs of study are much more conducive to working full-time while taking classes. Students need to discuss their educational plans with their employer as flexibility is sometimes needed.
