Edmond Melody's Profile
EDMOND, Melody

Melody’s higher education experience started at Motlow State Community College where she began her love of the community college. After receiving her undergraduate degree in Accounting from MTSU, she worked at a CPA firm in Nashville. After a move, she was able to pursue an MBA at Tennessee Technological University with a concentration in Decision Science. This allowed her to become a full-time instructor at Motlow State Community College. She served in this position for five years and earned the Faculty Excellence Award in 1999. At the end of the five years she received promotion to an Assistant Professor and tenure. Simultaneously, she was named Director of the McMinnville Center.
She served as the Director of the McMinnville Center for many years. During this time she became very active in many community activities. In fall 2015, Melody was asked to serve as the interim Department Chair for the Business and Technology department while remaining the Director of the McMinnville Center. Then in June 2016, she was asked to serve as the Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs. While being in this position, there have been some exciting accomplishments for the academic area. Some of these include Motlow State Community College securing a $5.5 million grant for an Advanced Robotics Training Center in McMinnville, the planning for an 80,000 square foot building at our Smyrna Campus, and a successful SACSCOC visit in October with no findings on the compliance certification.
Melody is currently pursuing the Community College Leadership graduate certificate at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and considering pursuing the EdD in Post-Secondary & Private Sector Leadership.
