Dr. Leach received a B.S. in Elementary Education (K-8) and a B.S. in Special Education
(K-12) with emphasis in multiple disabilities from the University of Tennessee at
Knoxville. He then moved on to ETSU and graduated with a M.Ed. in Counseling and later
his Ed.D. in ELPA. Dr. Leach is especially interested in meaningful educational strategies
that emphasize critical thinking in higher education settings. Additionally, he is
interested in active learning strategies, brain-based learning, and constructivist
approaches in instruction within the higher education setting. Dr. Leach worked as
a Special Education instructor and Psychometrist for 28 years. He also has 17 years
of experience working as an adjunct instructor teaching psychology and education related
courses at various higher education institutions. Additionally, he served as a counselor
at various agencies in the East Tennessee region. For the last 6 years, he has worked
at ETSU as a full time temporary faculty in the HDAL department. Also, he presented
at numerous conferences regarding special education issues and effective teaching
In his free time, Dr. Leach enjoys sports,outdoor activities and musical performance.
He is the proud father of 3 sons and a grandfather.
