About this Conference:

This lecture series will provide specialists and other attendees with panel discussions focusing on peace and justice issues involved in drug abuse and addiction in Appalachia. Participants will gain a new awareness of the issues and knowledge of the resources available to provide care that is helpful.

Family Medicine Physicians, Internal Medicine Physicians, OB/GYN Physicians, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, Surgeons, Emergency Medicine Providers, Advanced Practice Nurses, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists, Psychologists, Nurses, Medical and Nursing Students, Other Healthcare Professionals, Chaplains, Local Ministers, Seminary and College Students.

Overall Conference Objectives:

As a result of attending this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Articulate a clear perspective on the various issues surrounding drug abuse and addiction in Appalachian culture.
  • Have knowledge of and access to resources that can be helpful in their work with those impacted.
