I fell in love with the Rural Primary Care Track at Quillen. I chose Quillen because of all the hands on experiences, the beautiful Smokey Mountains, and a small class size.
Being a Quillen Student
Medical school is not easy, however being a student at Quillen means you will be supported by everyone who wants you to succeed. There is not a competitive atmosphere and the focus is really on become a compassionate, patient-centered physician.
Living in Northeast Tennessee
Living in Northeast Tennessee has the perfect amount of fun things to do for a medical student! In my first year, I have been able to hike, take day trips to Asheville, and focus on my studies.
I moved here from California and therefore it has been a cultural adjustment. Through this process, I have found an amazing support system and have great appreciation for people from all walks of life.
Words of Wisdom
Focus on what you want and be realistic about what you need to get there. Be patient with yourself and realize you may be overwhelmed sometimes, but it is part of the process. Do not compare yourself to your peers, instead be confident in what you are doing and focus on doing it well.
