The ETSU Clinical Mental Health Counseling program prepares students for licensure as a professional counselor with the mental health service provider designation (LPC-MHSP) in the state of Tennessee. The ETSU counseling program is CACREP accredited which provides an educational experience that exceeds state of Tennessee requirements and allows for easier transition to licensure in other states. Additionally, students can talk with their faculty advisors about planning a program of study that meets pre-licensure requirements in other states. Students may contact the state counseling licensing board to verify requirements, rules, and policies of the desired state.
The ETSU School Counseling program is approved by the state of Tennessee. Licensure paperwork and tests can all be completed within ETSU’s Clemmer College of Education and Human Development and all program graduates will be prepared to be licensed to counsel in grades Pre K-12. Students interested in becoming certified in another state are encouraged to contact the state’s department of education to verify the requirements, rules, and policies of the desired state.
