David Sensibaugh shares information about Eastman Integrated Health with Chinese delegates and ETSUs College of Public Health.
In the fall of 2007, Governor Phil Bredesen announced his intention to establish a Tennessee Trade and Development office in Beijing, China. This office was charged with recruiting Chinese investment into the State of Tennessee and assisting Tennessee companies doing business in China. Governor Bredesen sought to promote the states new office by highlighting Tennessees healthcare industry.
ETSU is working with the Governors office to promote Tennessee as a trade partner with China and to provide their healthcare leaders with new approaches to address healthcare in their country. The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development selected ETSUs College of Public Health as one of two training sites for the Exchange the other site is in Memphis.
More than 30 visitors consisting of the Chinese Delegates and ETSU College of Public Health recently visited Eastman. The group was welcomed by David Sensibaugh, director of Eastman Integrated Health, who provided information about Eastman and its overall Integrated Health programs.
Scott Rook, Specialty Plastics business unit director, discussed Eastmans current business with China. Most of Rooks presentation was done in their native language since he recently returned from a five year working assignment in China.
The group also spent time with Eastman H.E.A.L.T.H. and Wellness, Industrial Hygiene and participated in a tour of Eastmans medical facilities.
ETSUs Dean of Public Health, Dr. Randolph Wykoff, stated, It was very important for our visitors to understand that public health in our region is built on a wide-range of partnerships. Eastman is a wonderful example of an employer that works diligently to provide its employees with a wide-range of opportunities to improve their health and maintain a healthy life-style. I am honored to have been able to share the Eastman experience with our colleagues from China and would like to extend my personal thanks to the entire Eastman team that made this experience so valuable.
