ETSU welcomes the following new faculty and staff to the university family:
Dr. Michael J. Allshouse is a professor of pediatric surgery in the Department of Surgery. He comes to ETSU from Valley Children’s Healthcare, Madera, California, where he was medical director of Pediatric Surgery. He holds his D.O. from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Lori Balmer is director of Clinical Education and Radiography in the Department of Allied Health.
She was previously director of the Radiography Program at Trinity College of Nursing
and Health Sciences. She holds a master of public administration degree from Indiana
University.
Dr. Amanda Slaten Frasier is a faculty member at University School. Before coming to ETSU, she was an assistant professor of teacher preparation at Michigan State University, where she earned her Ph.D. in educational policy.
Dr. Ian Hensley is an assistant professor in the Department of Philosophy and Humanities after serving as a lecturer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Cornell University.
Cody Henson is an accountant in the Office of Payroll. He was previously a staff accountant with FACE Amusement Group. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky.
Michael Meit is director of Research and Programs in the Center for Rural Health Research, College of Public Health. Before coming to ETSU, he was co-director of the Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis with NORC at the University of Chicago. He holds an M.P.H. degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Paige Mullins is an assistant professor in the College of Nursing, Graduate Programs. She was previously a psychiatric nurse practitioner with Frontier Health. She holds a D.N.P. degree from ETSU.
Allie Nicosia is head triathlon coach in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. She comes to ETSU from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where she was head women’s triathlon, cross country, and track and field coach. She holds an M.S. degree in sport psychology from the University of Tennessee.
Christine Oaks is a lecturer in the Department of Counseling and Human Services after serving as an adjunct faculty member. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from ETSU.
Dr. Bethesda O’Connell is an assistant professor in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health. She holds a Dr.P.H. degree from ETSU.
Dr. Ian Rheault is an assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitative Health Sciences. He was previously with the Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency faculty and full-time staff at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He holds a D.P.T. degree from the University of Miami.
Dr. Bess Sirmon-Taylor is chair of the Department of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. She comes to ETSU from the University of Texas at El Paso, where she was associate dean for Academic Affairs in the College of Health Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.
Amy Wahlquist is a research associate professor in the Center for Rural Health Research, College of Public Health, after serving as a research instructor in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology. She holds an M.S. degree in biostatistics from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Dr. LeeAnn Rawlins Williams is an assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitative Health Sciences. She comes to ETSU from Walters State Community College, where she was director of Educational Services and Student Success. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
Glenda Wothers is a clinical instructor in the College of Nursing. She was previously a clinical assistant professor at the University of Memphis, where she earned her M.S.N.
