JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 17, 2021) – East Tennessee State University has activated its ETSU Response website to provide information on support for those affected by the Aug. 14 earthquake in Haiti.
The website, www.etsu.edu/response, provides links and contact information for those who wish to provide volunteer or monetary support to relief agencies working with the Haitian people in the aftermath of the 7.2-magnitude earthquake, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,400 people and injuries to more than 7,000. In addition to the damage and destruction from the earthquake, tropical depression Grace is currently moving toward the island, which encompasses Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
The ETSU Response website also helps connect students, faculty and staff who may have been personally impacted to support services, including the ETSU Counseling Center and the Employee Assistance Program.
The website has been used several times in the past to give individuals a way to provide assistance for victims of disasters both near and far.
