“Walking in two worlds: Indigenous women’s culture and history” is the topic of a
talk hosted by East Tennessee State University next week.
Dr. Debi Thibeault, a member of the Department of Social Work, will share teachings from her Elders about cultural practices for Indigenous women,
as well as the challenges of navigating western and Indigenous cultures and practices.
The event is part of the “Women on Wednesdays” lecture series sponsored by the ETSU Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program. It is free and open to the public. It takes place on Zoom (Zoom Meeting ID: 817
3675 0048) at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
The “Women on Wednesdays” series is aimed at raising awareness about research, scholarship
and community engagement conducted by women at ETSU. It offers a venue where women
on campus and in the community can discuss and support each other’s work, and it gives
students an opportunity to meet faculty who could become mentors for their studies.
