Children and teens with limited financial resources will receive support to attend performances.

As the East Tennessee State University Martin Center for the Arts prepares for an exciting year that includes six Broadway shows and other headlining artists, a local financial institution is making it possible for children and teens with limited financial resources to attend performances free of charge and experience the performing arts.

First Horizon Foundation presented a $5,000 check today to the ETSU Martin Center to establish a new ticket subsidy program. This new initiative will provide free tickets to eligible children and youth to attend Martin Center programming that is age-appropriate.

The ETSU Martin Center will use the funding for its upcoming 2024 shows and will be working with local organizations to oversee ticket distribution.

“It is truly inspiring to watch the eyes and minds of young people light up as they experience the magic of a live performance,” said Jennifer Clements, ETSU Executive Director of the Martin Center and University Events. “This generous gift from First Horizon Foundation will make it possible for kids and teens to enjoy high-quality productions regardless of income.”

“First Horizon Foundation focuses on supporting several key areas of giving, including investments in the Arts and Culture. As longtime supporters of ETSU and the Martin Center, this grant will allow the Martin Center to partner with nonprofit organizations and those in need to be able to enjoy an in-person theater experience, promoting the enrichment of arts in our community,” said Greg Perdue, First Horizon’s Tri-Cities Market President.
