ETSU Jazz Ensemble to perform ‘The Standards’ in spring concert
The ETSU Jazz Ensemble
The East Tennessee State University Jazz Ensemble will present its spring concert on Saturday, April 27.
The program, titled “The Standards,” will feature a variety of big band favorites plus vocal jazz numbers with Greyscale, ETSU’s premier contemporary vocal group.
“I am super excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Greyscale and its director, Dr. Matthew Potterton, for this very special performance,” said Martin Walters, director of jazz and contemporary music studies at ETSU. “This concert of popular jazz standards has allowed our students to really build on their improvisational skills, as well as the experience of working together with vocalists. It’s going to be a wonderful evening of music!”
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the ETSU Foundation Grand Hall of the Martin Center for the Arts.
Tickets are $12 for general admission and may be purchased by phone at (423) 439-2787 or online. Student admission is free with ETSU ID. All proceeds benefit scholarships and program funding for students of the ETSU Department of Music.
April is a busy time on ETSU’s campus, with dozens of events planned.
