The 57th annual East Tennessee State University Alumni Golf Classic was held at Cattails at MeadowView in Kingsport on Friday, Sept. 20.

ETSU alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students and volunteers were present for the two-person select-shot tournament held by the ETSU National Alumni Association. Golfers chose from one of eight divisions: the Gold Division for players with a handicap of 10 and under; the Blue Division for those with a handicap of 11-20; the White Division for players with a handicap of 21 or more; Faculty/Staff; Women; Greeks; Seniors; and Co-ed (male/female).

The champions of the Gold Flight were Brian Bailey and Eric Bailey, who won with a score of 65. In the Blue Division, David Hammonds and Larry Smith won with a score of 69. Shooting a 71, Christopher Hanor and Steve Hanor were the runners-up. The White Division crowned Kai Ravnborg and Nic Ravnborg the champions with a score of 63. Corby Self and Chris Skinner were second, claiming a score of 71.

Winning the Co-Ed Division were Jody Head and Trevor Head with a score of 70. The team of Charlotte Havely and Tyler Jones took second place. In the Senior Division, first-place winners were Stephen Fox and Duke Ingram, who won with a score of 64. Gary Burleson and Jim Olinger were runners-up with a score of 68. The Student Flight champions were Ty Debusk and Steven Bell shooting a 72. Gray Crum and Collin Dorlan shot a 74 for second place. The winners of the Faculty/Staff Division were Brian Johnson and Ralph Mills.  Rachel Smith and Yumiko Smith scored 71, winning the Women’s Division. Coming in second with a score of 72 were Mary Dave Blackman and Jenny Brock. In the Greek division, Jack Smith and Sean Sherrill prevailed with a score of 66. Runners up were Tim Altonen and Ian Steidle with a score of 97.

Other tournament contest winners include Eric Bailey, who won the Men’s Longest Drive challenge, receiving a catered barbecue dinner for 25 from The Firehouse Restaurant. Nic Ravnborg won the Men’s Closest to the Pin competition. Rachel Smith won the Longest Drive in the Women’s competition. Jody Head won Women’s Closest to the Pin and was rewarded with an overnight stay for two along with an hour massage compliments of The Carnegie Hotel.
