ETSU will hold two commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Ballad Health Athletic Center.

East Tennessee State University will celebrate 1,369 members of the Class of 2024 at its Commencement exercises at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.

The 10 a.m. ceremony will honor graduates of the Quillen College of Medicine (Biomedical Sciences) and the colleges of Public Health, Health Sciences and Arts and Sciences. The keynote speaker for the morning ceremony is Dr. Tom Kwasigroch, recipient of ETSU’s 2024 Distinguished Faculty in Teaching award.

Kwasigroch has taught at ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine for more than 45 years and has received numerous teaching accolades throughout his academic career, including two national awards, the Alpha Omega Alpha Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award and the McCann National Award in Teaching and Mentoring. He currently serves as professor in the Department of Medical Education and Department of Biomedical Sciences and has served in various leadership roles throughout his tenure at ETSU.

A group of 27 graduates of the College of Business and Technology will make history during the 2:30 p.m. commencement ceremony as they become the first students to graduate from the BlueSky Tennessee Institute, a workforce development partnership between BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and ETSU. Graduating members of the inaugural cohort earned bachelor’s degrees in 27 months from the program, and received and accepted a job offer for a competitive position with the insurer.

Both ceremonies will be held in the ETSU Ballad Health Athletic Center (Mini-Dome). For livestreaming and additional information, visit etsu.edu/commencement
