TSBDC at ETSU will offer September small business training classes


JOHNSON CITY (September 10, 2013) — The Tennessee Small Business Development Center (TSBDC) at East Tennessee State University will offer potential entrepreneurs several training classes in September. Registration is required for all classes, and every session is free for ETSU faculty, staff and students.  The classes will be held at the ETSU Innovation Laboratory, 2109 W. Market St.

A free “Affordable Care Act Update” session on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 10-11 a.m. will benefit small business owners. The Affordable Care Act will be effective this year, and many aspects of the new law are still unclear. Business owners need to know how this health care policy affects businesses. This workshop explains the changes, costs and the role of the business owner in the provisions of Health Care Reform and the Affordable Care Act. The United States Small Business Administration’s Nashville District Office personnel teach this workshop.

“Writing Your Business Plan” will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 9 a.m.-noon. The workshop covers the components of a business plan, exercises to assist with the first steps, and information about free personal coaching. There is a $20 fee for the class.

“Let’s Build It—Twitter,” Thursday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m.-noon, is an interactive workshop that takes participants through the set-upprocessand functions for a Twitter business page. Laptops and Internet access will be provided. Enrollment is limited to 10 individuals.

The free workshop, “Twitter for Small Business,” on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m.-noon, willprovide information on gaining a following, promoting a page, creating the perfect tweet, engaging and listening to followers and monitoring analytics.
