Samples chosen president-elect of committee for sleep science programs


JOHNSON CITY (September 6, 2013) – Dr. Donald Samples, interim dean of the East Tennessee State University College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences, has been elected to serve as president-elect of the national committee that accredits academic programs for the study of polysomnography technology, the science of evaluating sleep disorders.

Samples will serve one year in his current appointment with the Committee on Accreditation for Polysomnography Technologist Education and become president of the organization in the fall of 2015.

Prior to becoming interim dean of the college, Samples served as associate dean for Academic Affairs and as professor and chair of the Department of Allied Health Sciences. The department collaborates with the ETSU School of Continuing Studies and Academic Outreach to offer a certificate program in polysomnography technology.

Samples also holds committee appointments to the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
