ETSU Foundation elects officers, recognizes new members

JOHNSON CITY (May 14, 2015) – During its annual membership meeting on Thursday, May 14, the East Tennessee State University Foundation announced the election of officers for its fiscal year beginning July 1.

D. Roger Kennedy was re-elected as chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors for 2015-16, and M. Thomas Krieger was re-elected as vice chair.   Both are retired business executives from Jonesborough.  Leslie Parks Pope, chair of The Parks Group, LLC, Kingsport, is immediate past chair, and Dan Mahoney, Johnson City, is secretary. 

Re-elected to serve in their same positions on the board were Dr. Steve Conerly, Management Services/Strategic Planning, Johnson City, treasurer;Donald R. Raber, president, Aldebaran Financial Inc., Kingsport, chair of the Investment Committee ; Dennis T. Powell, Johnson City, chair of the Planned Giving Advisory Committee ;and Wayne G. Basler, Kingsport, representing past chairs of the board. J. Parker Smith continues as Tennessee Board of Regents representative .

The following were elected to serve a three-year term on the board of directors ending June 30, 2018:

Heidi Dulebohn, Joe Grandy, and Gerald Thomas, Johnson City; and Anita Bates, Kingsport.

Elected to serve a second three-year term on the board of directors ending June 30, 2018, were: Louis H. Gump, Lottie F. Ryans, Tom Seaton, Rick Storey and Dr. May Votaw, all of Johnson City.

Five members who are rotating off the board of directors after two consecutive three-year terms were recognized for their service: Dr. Stephen Kimbrough, Theresa K. Lee, Melissa Steagall-Jones and James W. Reel, Johnson City; and James Brinkley, Orange Park, Fla.

The membership of the Foundation is comprised of 480 individuals from throughout the region and across the nation who devote their time and financial resources to the continuous improvement of educational opportunities at ETSU.  The Foundation welcomed 26 new members who will serve an eight-year term ending June 30, 2023: Roger Leonard, Bristol; Betty Anderson, Frank Anderson Jr., Todd Bohon, Dan Cates, Joel Dahlhauser, Janyce Dudney, Heidi Dulebohn, Tammy Gorzka, Ray Jones, Brian K. Kennedy, Jon Phillips, Lisa Pritchett, Steve Sitton, Joe Trujillo, and Dr. Dawn Tuell, Johnson City; Robert I. Feathers, Jeff Fleming, Bart Hove, Chad Nixon, Kingsport;Joe Baker, James L. Cagle, Anthony L. “Tony” Spezia,  Knoxville;Jenny Hanson, Sevierville; Richard Mashburn, Atlanta, Ga; and Chris LaPorte, Houston, Tx.

Finally, five individuals completing their terms of membership in the ETSU Foundation as of June 30 were recognized and thanked for their service.  They were Richard Russell, Greeneville; Bunny Carter and Dr. Harold C. Meece Jr., Johnson City; Kelly Godsey, Tallahassee, Fla.; and Michael Banyas, Cumming, Ga. 

University President Dr. Brian Noland, ETSU Foundation Chair D. Roger Kennedy and the Foundation Board of Directors expressed their appreciation to all these individuals for their support and service to ETSU.
