Aaron Polichnowski, PhD, was honored recently at East Tennessee State University’s
Faculty Convocation, receiving the Distinguished Faculty Award in Research. The award
recognized Dr. Polichnowski’s exceptional contributions in the field of hypertension
and chronic kidney disease, his deep commitment to mentoring the next generation of
scientists, and his leadership through directing ETSU’s Medical Student Summer Research
Program. Dr. Polichnowski says, “I am honored to receive the Distinguished Research
Award. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of the outstanding research
staff and trainees I have been fortunate to have in my lab, my collaborators at ETSU
and other institutions, and the continued support of my Chair, Dr. Krishna Singh,
and Dean, Dr. Bill Block.” Dr. Polichnowski is an associate professor in the Quillen College of Medicine Department
of Biomedical Sciences. To date, he has secured approximately $2 million in extramural
funding for his research from the National Institutes of Health, American Heart Association,
and American Society of Nephrology. He is a member of the Center of Excellence in
Inflammation, Infectious Disease, and Immunity.
