CIIDI Clinical Research Office Welcomes Second Clinical Research Coordinator

The Center of Excellence in Inflammation, Infectious Disease, and Immunity (CIIDI) has recently hired a second Clinical Research Coordinator in its Clinical Research Office. Gideon “Jake” Noah is a recent graduate of the East Tennessee State University, obtaining a Master’s Degree in Public Health. He says, “Growing up in Nigeria, West Africa, and watching my dad offer holistic, patient-centered care amidst limited resources spurred my interest in healthcare. I wanted to be a part of the population of healthcare professionals who drove meaningful advancements in healthcare that would bring excellent, resourceful healthcare to communities. Becoming a dentist and practicing for a while in Nigeria offered me invaluable hands-on experience in patient care. However, the zeal to contribute to larger-scale solutions that impact public health globally made me chase and obtain a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Epidemiology from East Tennessee State University. I have stayed committed to pursuing a career where I can bridge clinical practice with scientific exploration and working with the Center of Excellence in Inflammation, Infectious Disease, and Immunity to explore the underlying mechanisms of immunity, inflammation, and infectious diseases offers me the exciting opportunity to achieve my career goals.”

Outside of work, he is an avid soccer fan supporting Chelsea FC, which he describes as “the best club in London.” He enjoys listening to music and singing, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling. He says, “These keep me inspired and help me to strike a balance between my personal and professional life.”

Jake will primarily coordinate ETSU’s participation in the Biorepository and Integrative Genomics Initiative (BIG), a collaboration with the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, and will also facilitate specimen acquisition and patient participation in several other active translational research studies. Please join us in welcoming him to the Clinical Research Office at the Center of Excellence in Inflammation, Infectious Disease, and Immunity.
