College students and faculty shine at the 2025 Boland Research Day

Faculty and students from the College of Public Health played a major role in the most recent Jay W. Boland Research Day (which includes what was previously known as the Appalachian Student Research Forum).  Between research posters, oral presentations and community engagement reports, 60 of the 240 total presentations (25 percent) featured faculty, staff, or students from the College of Public Health.  Over 70 students were able to present their research, which had been supported by 23 faculty and staff.

Impressively, of the 46 poster and oral presentations selected as award winners, 14 (30 percent) were  from the College of Public Health.

Dean Randy Wykoff said “It is incredibly impressive to see one quarter of all of the research featured at this conference, and almost a third of the award winners come from a college that makes up only seven percent of the overall student body.  I am exceptionally proud of our students and deeply appreciative of their faculty mentors.”
