Department of Community and Behavioral Health launches certificate

The Department of Community and Behavioral Health is excited to announce the launch of the Aging Studies and Public Health Graduate Certificate program, formerly Gerontology Certificate. This 9-credit hour fully online graduate program addresses the growing needs of the older adult population by equipping public health professionals with specialized knowledge in the biopsychosocial aspects of aging, current and emerging topics in aging, and intergenerational caregiving. As the population ages, public health training in aging is critical for enhancing the quality of life for older adults and their families.

Participants will explore various aspects of aging, including physical and emotional well-being, social connections, and policies affecting older adults.  They will analyze aging-related services and programs to identify areas for improvement and develop skills to implement evidence-based practices.  Students will learn how to enhance communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with older adults, their families, and community organizations.
