Southerland invited to join family caregiver support work group

Jodi Southerland, Assistant Professor in the East Tennessee State University College of Public Health’s Department of Community and Behavioral health, has been invited to join the Family Caregiver Services and Supports Working Group.  This new initiative, funded by the Administration for Community Living as part of the implementation of the RAISE strategy, is aimed at expanding and advancing the range of education, counseling, and peer supports available to family caregivers through the aging services network.

The initiative forms a dedicated working group that will play a pivotal role in developing a comprehensive Caregiver Services and Supports Action Guide Series. The objective is to provide recommendations for programs and interventions that could be implemented through the AAA network and other organizations with aligned missions. In addition, these recommendations can inform a new Services and Supports Innovations Hub.

This working group is part of a broader effort led by USAging and partners, including, Family Caregiver Alliance, National Alliance for Caregiving, and others. The collective goal is to strengthen and innovate the Aging Network to better serve the diverse needs of family caregivers.
