The College of Public Health celebrated its Annual Faculty and Staff Picnic on August 23, 2023. The college welcomed new faculty and staff including: Kathy Booher, Justin Searcy, and Qian Huang in the Center for Rural Health Research; Erin Mauck and Jodi Southerland in the Department of Community and Behavioral Health; Rod Handy in the Department of Environmental Health; Richard Campbell in the Department of Health Services Management and Policy; Veronica Roberson in the Office of Student Services; and Sandy Herring in the Office of the Dean.
The annual fall picnic allows the college to recognize outstanding accomplishments by individuals and groups. The Dean’s Special Recognition Awards are selected by the Dean to recognize excellence in advancing the mission of the College.
The first group award was presented to External and Internal faculty and staff that worked on the Lamb Hall Renovations. At the university level: Jeremy Ross, Laura Bailey, Kim Edwards, Rebecca Amirfaiz, Chuck Milam, Ray Miller, Casey Gwyn, Joey McNeil, and David Combs. At the college level: Julie Gidley, Trisha Rogers, Chuck Patton, Eric Jones, Lee Cutshaw, Janet Stork and Karen Ervin. John Fisher, the architect for the redesign was also recognized.
The second group award was presented to the CEPH Reaccreditation and Site Visit Team Leaders: Rachel Kellogg, Amal Khoury, Karen Ervin, Hazel Robinson, Taylor Dula, Chris Sutter, Janet Stork, David Shoham, Megan Quinn, Debbi Slawson, Ranjan Chakraborty, and Dara Young.
The Dean’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to an Individual was Presented to Ranjan Chakraborty for his years of service as the Chair of the Department of Health Sciences.
The faculty and staff awards are nominated by colleagues and students and selected by the Awards and Scholarship Committee.
