College of Public Health Students and Alumni Named to 1911 Society

The College of Public Health is pleased to congratulate all 11 recently inducted members of the 1911 Society, especially those five who have a direct relationship with the College.

The 1911 Society was established to honor the university’s most outstanding graduates at the undergraduate, graduate and professional level, especially those who have distinguished themselves in terms of academic excellence, service and leadership.

“Having five of the eleven inductees be current or former students of the College of Public Health reflects not only very well on our students, but also on our faculty and staff.” Said Dean Randy Wykoff. “As proud as I am of these five students, and their stellar accomplishments, I am equally proud of the faculty, staff, advisors and many others who helped these students on their journey."

The five inductees who are current or former students of the College include:

  • Hebah Al-Khateeb -  A senior student majoring in Microbiology
  • Brooke (Baxter) Bartow – A 2017 graduate with a double major in Microbiology and Chemistry, who is now in the Quillen College of Medicine
  • Serena Hernandez – A senior student majoring in Environmental Health
  • Jonathan (John David) Mullins – A senior student majoring in Microbiology
  • David Taylor – A 4th year student in the Quillen College of Medicine enrolled in the MD/MPH combined degree program, with a Community Health concentration.

The 1911 Society, named in honor of the year of the founding of the East Tennessee Normal School (later to be renamed East Tennessee State University) inducted its first class in 2020.
