You may have seen the news that Dr. Ashana Puri recently won the Early Career Scholar Award at ETSU's Celebration of Research in October 2024. Here are some highlights of Dr. Puri's career since joining ETSU in 2019:
- Established a research lab focused on topical and transdermal drug delivery systems, with a commitment to improving patient outcomes and advancing therapeutic efficacy.
- Research philosophy emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning, ensuring her work remains at the forefront of the field.
- Received over $370,000 in research funding, including the prestigious New Investigator Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy in 2020.
- Research focuses on innovative drug delivery methods, including the use of microneedles and novel polymers to enhance drug efficacy and stability. Notable projects include microneedle-mediated transdermal delivery of naloxone for opioid overdose treatment and the development of dissolving microneedles for antifungal therapies.
- Collaborative research efforts span across institutions and industry partners, including ETSU Quillen College of Medicine, Houston Methodist Research Institute, and Eastman Chemical, resulting in high-impact publications and presentations at national conferences.
- Published 29 papers, including 19 since joining ETSU, with her work featured in high-impact
journals such as International Journal of Pharmaceutics and Journal of Controlled
Release. Her contributions have garnered over 500 citations, reflecting the influence
and quality of her research. She has also mentored 26 PharmD students, 2 Master's
