Admissions Process
Transfer students who are ready to apply to the Bachelor Science in Nursing program will complete two applications: one application to ETSU Undergraduate Admissions, and one to the College of Nursing through Nursing CAS. These applications should both be started several weeks ahead of the Nursing program application deadlines, and can be done simultaneously.

All students interested in applying to nursing will first need to apply to ETSU Admissions. Transfer students will need to ensure all college level coursework is transferred for transferability of courses. Apply to ETSU

3. GPA Requirements
Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA): A minimum cumulative college level Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 as
computed by East Tennessee State University (excluding developmental
coursework) is required.
Pre-Requisite GPA: A minimum pre-requisite (GPA) of 2.75 is required. Pre-requisite courses must be completed within 5 years of admission to the nursing program. -
4. Apply through Nursing CAS
Students must apply to the College of Nursing using the Centralized Application System (Nursing CAS).
Official Transcripts from all colleges attended (including dual enrollment during high school) must be sent to CAS.
The Nursing CAS application process should be started well in advance of the application deadline.

Deadlines for Nursing Admissions are as follows:
Spring is October 1
Summer is February 1

5. TEAS
Standardized Entrance Examination: Applicants must electronically submit all scores from the Test of
Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). The TEAS exam must be completed within two (2) years of
application to the nursing program. Students must achieve a minimum overall TEAS exam score
of 65%. Applicants can take the TEAS exam a maximum of two (2) times with a minimum 30-day
waiting period requirement between attempts to allow applicants to engage in remediation.*LPN-BSN students who have taken the TEAS exam within the past two (2) years as part of their admission to their LPN program may submit the results as part of their application for the LPN-BSN program. Students are encouraged to pay close attention to the minimum score requirement as stated above
Students may take the TEAS at the ETSU Testing Center or go to www.atitesting.com to find other locations.
Costs: $15 to reserve your seat at ETSU Testing Center; ATI TEAs is $70.00.
You must bring a government issued ID with a signature, such as a driver’s license the day you take the test. Your student ID does not meet this standard.
TEAS must be completed prior to nursing application deadline.

Undergraduate Programs
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is the foundation for professional nursing practice. The professional nurse practices in collaboration with other health care providers and is responsible for coordinating and practicing comprehensive nursing care for individuals, families, groups, and communities, and assuming management and leadership positions in nursing practice.
The College of Nursing offers five (5) tracks leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. The Traditional BSN, Accelerated (Johnson City, Kingsport, Sevierville), and LPN-BSN offers coursework leading to initial licensure as a professional nurse. The RN-BSN option is designed for students who are already registered nurses but who are seeking a bachelor’s degree. The Dual Degree RN-BSN is offered with select community college partners for students enrolled in associates degree programs who are interested in simultaneously earning a bachelor’s degree. A course of study that meets the degree requirements and the university’s General Education Program Requirements will be planned with the student through regular sessions with a College of Nursing professional advisor.

Graduate Programs
The College of Nursing offers a variety of options for student looking to continue their nursing education. Certificate, Registered Nurse - Master of Science in Nursing (RN-MSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) options are available. The College of Nursing graduate study leading to the MSN designed to prepare registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree in nursing for advanced nursing practice. The nursing education major is designed to prepare individuals for the nurse educator role in academic or staff development settings. It reflects the nurse educator competencies developed by national organizations and is comprehensive in nature. The nursing administration concentration prepares students for employment or advancement in nursing leadership/management. Students in this concentration will consult and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and direct health care systems through integration research and scholarship.
The DNP program offers a terminal professional degree for those who wish to pursue or further their career as an advanced practice nurse focusing on healthcare needs of specific populations. The College of Nursing currently offers four concentrations within the degree: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Nursing and Healthcare Leadership (NHL), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
The purpose of the PhD degree program at ETSU is to prepare expert practitioners and nurse scientists who are capable of conducting research that will improve health and provide leadership in the health care delivery system. Graduates of the program will meet an escalating need for nurse educators and researchers in schools of nursing, health agencies, and complex health care delivery systems across the state and nation.
The Post-Graduate certificate programs offer a Post-Master’s certificate for nurses who have completed a MSN degree. This customized special studies program provides education and clinical training in the FNP role. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible for the national certification examination. Schedule an ETSU Campus Visit
Please come visit us at ETSU! We would love to show you our beautiful campus, which spans over 350 acres and contains a certified Arboretum. There are more than 60 academic and administrative buildings, and approximately 3 million square feet of space, with network access available in every classroom, office, residence hall and building. Wifi access is established throughout the campus, so you can stay connected indoors and out.Campus tours are generally offered September through July at 9:00 AM EST and 1:00 PM EST Monday through Friday. Student Admissions Ambassadors will be your tour guide. Additionally, a limited number of Saturday tours are offered during the Fall and Spring Semesters. Visit our campus tour reservation system to see specific tour dates and times and setup YOUR tour.

Our Location
The ETSU College of Nursing is located on ETSU's main campus in Roy S. Nicks Hall, 365 Stout Drive, Johnson City, TN 37614 (across the lawn from the D.P. Culp University Center).
There is metered parking in the lot behind Nicks Hall located off of Stout Drive.
If you have a visitors parking permit, you may park in the lots between Burgin-Dossett and Gilbreath Halls, near the Carillon (bell tower).
The Office of Student Services is located in Room 2-230 of Nicks Hall.
Please be aware that some GPS systems have difficulty finding specific campus buildings, so we suggest using the physical address noted above. You may also use this link: https://goo.gl/maps/DsQZ1iKLGh32 to open a Google map to the building.

Visitor Parking Permit

All campus visitors are required to obtain a visitor parking permit from the Parking Services office.
These are available from 7:30 AM EST until 4:30 PM EST, Monday through Friday.
