Peer Mentoring
Peer mentoring connects students with experienced peers who have successfully navigated the nursing program and understand its expectations. Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and practical strategies for study skills, time management, and navigating coursework and clinical experiences. This student-to-student support fosters community, promotes collaboration, and helps students feel more confident and supported throughout the program

Academic Coaching
Academic coaching provides individualized support to help students strengthen the skills needed for success in rigorous academic programs. Through one-on-one sessions with a Student Success Educator, students set goals, evaluate study strategies, and develop effective approaches for managing coursework and preparing for exams. Coaching focuses on building skills in time management, organization, test-taking, and effective learning strategies, while helping students navigate challenges that may impact academic progress. The goal is to empower students to become confident, independent learners equipped for long-term academic success.

Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides structured, student-centered review sessions designed to support learning in challenging courses such as Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. These sessions are led by trained peer leaders who have previously been successful in the course and understand the complexity of the material. SI sessions focus on reinforcing key concepts, breaking down difficult content, and helping students apply knowledge through guided discussion, practice questions, and collaborative learning activities. Rather than reteaching lectures, SI emphasizes active learning strategies that strengthen understanding, improve critical thinking, and help students prepare more effectively for exams while building confidence in mastering complex course content.
Students in the College of Nursing have access to additional tutoring support through the University’s Center for Academic Achievement (CFAA). The CFAA provides scheduled tutoring sessions designed to help students strengthen their understanding of course content, clarify challenging concepts, and develop effective study strategies. Tutoring sessions are typically offered in small group or one-on-one formats and are facilitated by trained tutors who are knowledgeable in the subject area. These sessions provide a supportive environment where students can ask questions, review key concepts, and work through practice problems to reinforce learning. Students can schedule tutoring appointments directly through the CFAA, and the Academic Student Success Center (ASSC) can assist students in connecting with these services when additional academic support is needed.
