Join the Movement!
The Alternative Break (AB) program is a unique learning experience in which students
engage in active service to address some of the most pressing social issues of our
time. Teams are led by student site leaders and accompanied by faculty learning partners.
Throughout the trip, team members participate in educational activities, service,
and reflective activities to enhance their service experience. During Fall/Spring
Break our student groups volunteer in TN and across the country.
Break locations are organized by the Leadership Team and can vary from year to year.
Students address social issues that can include disaster relief, environmental restoration,
HIV/AIDS, education, homelessness, healthcare, poverty, youth development, religious
pluralism, food insecurity and many more!
Alternative Breaks offers students a chance to learn about root issues, gain new perspectives
on issues that our communities face, time to reflect and think critically about social
issues, and the opportunity to develop into life-long active citizens!
