FAQs
-
WHY IS LEARNING SUPPORT REQUIRED?
ETSU requires students to enroll in Learning Support sections of specific general education courses where the student needs additional support. Learning Support placement is determined based on a student's sub-scores on ACT/SAT/ACCUPLACER. -
I AM REQUIRED TO TAKE THE ACCUPLACER TEST. DO I HAVE TO TAKE IT ON THE ETSU CAMPUS?
We offer Remote Proctor Testing. If you would like to test from home, you may do so. It requires that you have a computer with a camera for remote proctoring. You may also try to contact a community college or testing center closer to your location and see if they offer the ACCUPLACER test (or an equivalent placement test). If so, you may take the placement test there and ask them to send our office a copy of the results. For more details, please call us at 423-439-5244. -
IF I RETAKE THE ACT (OR OTHER PLACEMENT TEST) AND DO BETTER IN MATH BUT NOT ON READING, WHAT SCORE WILL YOU TAKE? SHOULD I STILL SEND YOU THE SCORES?
For Learning Support purposes, we will take the best sub-score in each area to use for your Learning Support placement. If you attempt the ACT/SAT multiple times and score higher in one or more subject areas, it is to your advantage to send in those scores for us to re-evaluate your placement. -
ARE LEARNING SUPPORT COURSES OFFERED ONLINE?
Unfortunately, no. At this time, Learning Support courses are only offered on campus to best facilitate student learning and support.
Information regarding Learning Support placement determination and how to complete those requirements can be found on our Assessment and Placement website.
