Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is grounded in a passion for chemistry and education. I teach so that students embrace lifelong learning. While some chemistry courses may have a low rate of success for some students, they should not also have a high barrier to access. I consider myself a facilitator and steward of chemical knowledge and education, especially for first-year college students. My goal is to meet students where they are and help them relate chemistry to their future goals and chosen profession. I think I best accomplish this goal by being available, approachable, and aware of students’ needs. Humor also plays a big role in my approach to teaching as I will often tell many bad chemistry jokes because all the good ones Argon (Ar).
