Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (SCACS)
American Chemical Society (ACS) student communities support undergraduate and graduate students through resources that help them engage with their peers. Students can develop leadership skills through outreach activities, grant writing, professional development opportunities, and other initiatives.
In the Chemistry Club, undergraduate students can connect, expand their network, and have fun with like-minded individuals who share their passion for chemistry!
The Chemistry Club meets once a month and participates in two major outreach activities a year.
National Chemistry Week
National Chemistry Week (NCW) is a public awareness campaign that promotes the value of chemistry in everyday life.
ACS members and chemistry enthusiasts celebrate NCW by coordinating events and communicating the importance of chemistry.
Fun fact: Did you know that nutmeg, a spice, was once worth more than gold?
National Chemistry Week (#ACS_NCW) is celebrated each year from October 19 to 25. The 2025 theme is “The Hidden Life of Spices.”
Chemists Celebrate Earth Week
Chemists Celebrate Earth Week (CCEW) is a community-based program of the ACS.
This annual program unites ACS local sections, student communities, ACS divisions, businesses, schools, and individuals in highlighting the positive impact that chemistry has on the world.
Earth Day is observed on April 22, and CCEW is celebrated the week of Earth Day.
CCEW will be celebrated from April 19 to 25. The 2026 theme is “Into the Woods with Chemistry.”
