Robert Rogers began in the fall of 2025 in the Master of Music Guitar Performance
program. He is a dedicated musician from Tucson, AZ, with over 15 years of diverse
musical experience. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Guitar Performance at
East Tennessee State University (ETSU), Robert continues to refine his craft under
the guidance of Professor James West.
Inspired by rock legends such as Angus Young, Eddie Van Halen, and Randy Rhoads, Robert's
musical journey began early and was initially fueled by their powerful performances
and innovative styles. What started as admiration for these iconic guitarists has
since evolved into a deep love for classical guitar and a broad appreciation for various
musical genres.
He has studied with esteemed musicians like Tom Patterson, Dr. Lerman, David Russell,
Sergio Assad, and now Professor James West. Robert earned his Associate’s Degree in
Music from Pima Community College and completed his Bachelor's in Guitar Performance
at the University of Arizona. He was the top prize winner of the Wolfe guitar competition
in 2022. His prize included a 10,000 guitar built by the renowned luthier Jeremy Cooper.
A versatile musician, Robert specializes in classical music, rock ‘n’ roll, blues,
metal, and mariachi. He has studied guitar extensively, performed in orchestras since
the age of 8 on the violin, and frequently performs in mariachi bands alongside masters
Rueben and Monica Loya. Self-taught on piano, Robert also teaches guitar, violin,
and piano through private lessons and works as a guitar instructor at Guitar Center.
Beyond teaching, Robert performs professionally at weddings, birthdays, and various
events.
Having studied with prominent musicians and performed across different genres, Robert
composes and improvises his own music, with the goal of making a significant impact
in the music world. His ultimate aspiration is to join a legendary rock band, travel
the globe, and share his music beyond Tucson. Inspired by the spiritual connection
to the guitar and his love for the instrument. In his relentless pursuit of mastery,
Robert dedicates countless hours to practicing, learning new pieces, and improvising—driven
by a passion to leave a lasting mark on the world of music.
