Carson Tanner Underwood is a percussionist and educator residing in Abingdon, VA. Other than his duties to the ETSU Marching Band, he currently serves as the Adjunct Instructor of Percussion at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, where he teaches and coordinates the Percussion program and is the owner of Underwood Music Services, a repair and distribution business he just recently started. As a performer, Carson has recently performed with Symphony of the Mountains, Winds of the Mountain Empire, Tri-Star Wind Ensemble along with many others.
In percussion he has been a featured soloist at multiple Percussive Arts Society “Day of Percussion” events. He also has been a part of consortiums and premieres for new works by Cole Reyes, Brian Mark, Molly Joyce, Steven Snowden, Alex Dowling, Chandler White and Adam Hopper.
Carson holds a Bachelor of Music from East Tennessee State University and a Master of Music from Morehead State University. He is also proud to have unwavering support from Salyers Percussion. He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians.
