Jude Wolfe began the Master of Music in Composition in the fall of 2026. He studies with Dr. Alex Yucheng Zhang. Originally from Joplin, Missouri, he earned his Bachelor of Music degree with Elective Studies in Media Production from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, under the tutelage of Dr. John Ross. He began composing in his free time using digital audio software at the age of 13, taking up piano and other instruments shortly thereafter. Since then, he has written for orchestra, wind ensemble, jazz ensemble, choir, and chamber groups, all of which have been performed live in Pittsburg. He also composed, performed on, and produced an album alongside fellow students with whom he formed a local seven-piece funk band. Jude maintained academic honors every semester during his undergraduate studies, won student awards in Composition and Non-Traditional Piano, received a Kansas Association of Broadcasters award in the field of college audio, and participated in local ensembles, including JOMO Jazz, Crossroads Jazz Orchestra, and others. While at PSU, he worked as a crew member for the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.
His works include Roan Mountain, a four-movement suite for wind ensemble; The Skygrazer, a work for orchestra; When the Shy Star Goes Forth in Heaven, an adaptation of the poem of the same name by James Joyce for SATB choir; Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen, a work for jazz ensemble; Skogsrå, a work for viola; Duet for a Solo Clarinet, a work for solo clarinet and delay pedal; Broadway Bones, a work for trombone quartet; and Unidentified Funky Object, a studio album by the Little Green Men. Jude is married, has numerous family members from Johnson City, Tennessee, and aspires to compose for film and commercial projects while continuing his solo production efforts.
