Dr. Biju Bajracharya is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computing at East Tennessee State University (ETSU), where he teaches and mentors students in the undergraduate and graduate cybersecurity programs. His teaching and research interests include information security, digital forensics, ethical hacking, network defense, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), and data analytics.
He is the founding faculty advisor of the CyberBucs, Cybersecurity Club, a nationally recognized student organization dedicated to cybersecurity education, competition, and outreach. Under his leadership, the club has achieved top placements in several prestigious high profile competitions, including:
- MITRE Embedded Capture the Flag, eCTF (Top 40 globally: 17th 2024, 37th 2025 )
- National Cyber League (Top 50 nationally)
- HiveStorm (Top 30)
- CyberForce (Top 30: 29th 2023, 22nd 2024)
- Southeast Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (Top 3 regionally)
He actively engages students in applied learning through custom training scenarios, ethical hacking exercises, and professional development activities. Many of his students have earned industry certifications, internships, and positions in cybersecurity roles. Dr. Bajracharya also connects students with national organizations such as the National Cybersecurity Student Association and coordinates workshops, guest speaker events, and community engagement initiatives.
He holds a Ph.D. in Computational Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and has previously served as faculty at Ball State University and Lock Haven University. Dr. Bajracharya maintains active IT certifications from Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA, and EC-Council. His current research focuses on cyber-physical systems, IoT security, and data-driven approaches to network defense.
