Be the frontline defense against cyber-crimes and hackers with a degree in cybersecurity and modern networks.
Cybersecurity and Modern Networks (CSMN) supplements the core curriculum with courses in secure software development and systems deployment; cloud, wireless, and mobile computing; and sensor-based (Internet of Things) computing. This concentration is designed for students who wish to pursue careers in computer security and in networking-enabled application development. This concentration is also recommended for those who plan to do graduate work in cybersecurity.
Students interested in the Cybersecurity and Modern Networks concentration will start in the Computer Science concentration and apply to start the Cybersecurity and Modern Networks concentration in their third year.
Students may apply for admission to the CSMN concentration after completing a designated set of foundational courses.

- Cohort-based learning model during last 2 years
- Up to thirty (30) students will be admitted each fall
- Cohorts will begin Fall 2021
- All four (4) years must be completed at ETSU
- CSMN concentration will be eligible for initial ABET review in 2024
Each graduate of the Cybersecurity and Modern Networks Concentration will have the ability to
- apply security principles and practices to anticipate, plan for, and manage threats to system operation.
- employ security principles and practices to plan for, respond to, and recover from violations of system security.
- design and implement secure, efficient modern networks to meet the needs of contemporary organizations.

As a part of the application process, students must commit to the cohort's course schedule and present a statement of academic/career goals. A faculty committee will evaluate applicants based on their academic work and their potential to succeed in the CSMN concentration.
