At ETSU’s Sport & Recreation Management program, learning goes far beyond the classroom.
Students gain real-world experience through internships, industry partnerships, hands-on
projects, and immersive field opportunities. From working major sporting events to
collaborating with industry professionals, our students graduate with the skills,
confidence, and connections needed to succeed.
Hands-On Opportunities
Students in the SARM program actively engage in hands-on learning through coursework and partnerships with organizations across the region. These experiences allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings while building professional skills and industry connections.

- Sycamore Shoals State Historic Site
- Tours to professional sports arenas

- Attend industry site visits including Dollywood and regional parks
Internships That Launch Careers
All SARM students complete a required internship designed to prepare them for full-time careers in the sport and recreation industries.
Undergraduate students complete a 12-credit hour internship (480 hours) in a professional setting. With support from faculty and advisors, students are well-prepared before applying—and many turn their internship into a full-time job after graduation.
