To reach these goals, EDWorks will provide supporting data and information and will foster data sharing among participating institutions to address regional challenges
- Reports of progress on key measures and critical points along the education and employment pipeline
- High school feedback on student progress in postsecondary education
- Regional demographic trends and projections
- Current and projected workforce and economic needs

Detailed Goals
1. Increase enrollment in Pre-K and early childhood education programs
- Promote kindergarten readiness
2. Increase students’ proficiency levels in third grade
- Literacy
- Math
3. Increase the percentage of high school students graduating college-ready or with
a workforce credential
Increase early exposure to career pathways- Provide and expand opportunities to earn workforce credentials while in high school, such as work-based learning opportunities, and apprenticeships
Increase the percentage of high school students who meet TN’s Ready Graduate Indicators
4. Increase the percentage of high school graduates enrolling directly into postsecondary
education institutions
Increase the regional college-going rate to 65 percent by 2030- Expand and focus dual enrollment to align with career pathways and workforce needs
- Promote early postsecondary opportunities (e.g., dual enrollment, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, College-Level Exam Program, industry certifications)
- Provide high schools feedback on various student outcomes for improving student performance and success and teacher preparation
5. Increase the percentage of adults not directly out of high school entering or re-entering
the postsecondary education system for advancing their knowledge and skills
Focus on completion of credentials in high-wage, high-demand fields- Promote articulation and transfer agreements and pathways in order to facilitate students’ completion of degrees in time-efficient and affordable ways
6. Increase the regional success rates of students in postsecondary education in these
areas:
College-level coursework in gateway courses- First-to-second-year retention
- Completion of credential or degree
- Employment after completion
7. Align educational outcomes with regional workforce needs and career pathways
Increase work-based learning projects, apprenticeships, internships and/or attainment of a workforce certificate or credential- Promote articulation agreements between postsecondary educational institutions
Work with business and industry to ensure regional employment needs are met- Focus attention of all of the above on credential completion in high-wage, high-demand fields
8. Serve as a Central Resource Center for the Northeast Tennessee region
- Provide information and resources related to P-20 education and the workforce in the region and the state
