(September 5, 2023) – Dr. Erik Dahl, associate professor at the Naval Postgraduate School’s National Security Affairs Department, will present a lecture titled “Using the Intelligence Community to Prevent the Next Pandemic” on Thursday, Sept. 14, at East Tennessee State University.
Dahl’s talk, which is free and open to the public, is part of ETSU College of Public Health’s Leading Voices in Public Health lecture series.
The event will be held in ETSU’s newly renovated Lamb Hall, room 131, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Those interested can attend in-person or by Zoom. It will also be recorded and available for later viewing.
Dahl served 21 years in the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer and has published two books on the intelligence community: “Intelligence and Surprise Attack: Failure and Success from Pearl Harbor to 9/11 and Beyond” and “The COVID-19 Intelligence Failure: Why Warning Was Not Enough.”
“We are very excited to host Dr. Dahl and have him share his expertise,” said Dr. Randy Wykoff, dean of the ETSU College of Public Health. “The COVID-19 pandemic fundamentally changed many aspects of life, and it’s critically important we look at and evaluate our response to see how we might be able to respond more effectively to future threats.”
