RingCentral Quick Start Guide

Overview

Once your phone has been moved to RingCentral, you can install the Ring Central app on your computer or smart device.

Download the desktop application for Mac or Windows

Search for the RingCentral app in the Apple App Store and Google Play

• Signing into the RingCentral App

  1. Choose Sign In on the initial page
  2. Select the Single Sign-On option on the Sign In
  3. Enter your ETSU email address (Ex: bucky@etsu.edu) and choose Submit to be redirected to the Microsoft MFA
  4. Select Submit to redirect to the ETSU Microsoft Authentication Service page

   

  For the Desktop App: Confirm your address for emergency calls
  The first tim you log in to RingCentral on the Desktop App, you will be prompted to confirm your physical address. Be sure to follow the prompts; if you do not provide an emergency address, you will be limited to making calls to extensions within RingCentral.

• Setting Preferences in the RingCentral Online Portal

  Sign in to the RingCentral Online Portal at service.ringcentral.com

  After signing in, you will be able to manage the following settings:

  • Work Hours / After Hours behavior
  • Voicemail Greeting
  • Connect your ETSU Calendar to your RingCentral Account
  •  
• Set Your RingCentral Work Hours

  Your default "work hours" are set at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. If you need to receive calls through RingCentral outside of these hours, please contact ringcentralcomments@etsu.edu. 
• Customizing Your Personal Voicemail

  Anyone calling your direct RingCentral extension will receive your personal voicemail message. If you are a member of a queue, calls to the queue will not go to your personal voicemail.

• Choose Your Status Availability Setting

  Use the status setting to indicate if you are available to receive calls and text messages.

  To update your status:

  1. Select your profile
  2. Select your current status
  3. Choose your new status

   

  Status Options

  Status	Indicator	Description
  Available		Ready to take calls
  Do Not Disturb		Indicates that you do not want to be disturbed. App notifications across mobile, desktop, and email will be turned off. You will not receive calls within RingCentral; personal calls will go directly to voicemail.
  Offline or Invisible		Offline status indicates that you are offline or inactive (for 15 minutes or more) or logged out of the app. Invisible status can only be chosen manually and will make it appear to others that you are offline.

  At the end of the day, set your status to "Do Not Disturb" if you do not want to receive calls after hours.

• Transferring a Call

  To transfer a call, select the "More" button (...) when you are on the call.

  1. Select Transfer from the Dial Pad.
  2. Search for the person or team name, select the appropriate choice, and choose your transfer option.

   

  • Ask First: Allows you to introduce the caller.
  • Transfer or Transfer Now: Also known as a cold transfer, allows you to transfer the call with no introduction.
  • To Voicemail: Transfers directly to voicemail. This option is only available if the recipient is set up to receive voicemail.
