High Incidence Disabilities
Overview
This area of emphasis prepares individuals to teach students with high incidence disabilities, including learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, mild behavior disorders, and mild intellectual disorders.
The Special Education program offers a Certificate in Special Education: High Incidence Disabilities. The program provides advanced coursework directed at evidenced-based instructional practices for K-12 students with high incidence disabilities. For current teachers, this certificate program can lead to an additional teacher licensure in Modified Special Education.
Program
All applicable course credits can be transferred into the Special Education Master’s program if admitted.

A student who applies and is accepted into the master’s program in Special Education with a concentration in Special Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Advanced Studies in Special Education, may apply up to eighteen (18) credit hours from the Special Education: Low Incidence Disabilities Certificate Program as the certificate program’s coursework aligns with the master’s degree program.
Up to nine credit hours may be transferred from the High Incidence Disabilities Certificate Program to another Special Education certificate program where applicable.

Step 1 - Create your ETSU Application Account

Step 2 - Sign into the ETSU Application Portal
Step 2 Sign into the ETSU Application Portal and select "Start a New Application"

Step 3 - Complete the Remaining Fields
Step 3 Choose "Graduate," select your student type (domestic or international), select "Certificate," term, then choose High Incidence Disabilities and complete the remainder of the form.
