100% Online Sport Nutrition Graduate Certificate
The Sport Nutrition Certificate is a 15-credit fully online program of study designed
for professionals and graduate students who are interested in increasing their knowledge
of sport nutrition and helping athletes and sports enthusiasts use food to enhance
health and physical performance.
ETSU's online Sport Nutrition certificate prepares individuals to provide sound sports nutrition information to athletes and physically active individuals. The courses focus on using evidence-based research in designing and implementing nutrition programs for athletes and physically active individuals.
NTFD 5150 Introduction to Sport Nutrition (3 credits) [Prerequisite: Admission to sport nutrition certificate program or permission of instructor] Introduces scientific principles of sport nutrition and explores the relationships between nutrition, exercise and sports performance
NTFD 5250 Nutrition & Exercise in Weight Management (3 credits) [Prerequisite: Admission to sport nutrition certificate program or permission of instructor] Explores the role of evidence-based nutrition and exercise strategies for weight management and eating disorders in athletes
NTFD 5255 Nutraceuticals and Dietary Supplements for Health and Performance (3 credits) [Prerequisite: Admission to sport nutrition certificate program or permission of instructor] Examines the use of nutraceuticals and dietary supplements for health and sports performance
NTFD 5350 Advanced Sport Nutrition for Athletic Performance (3 credits) [Prerequisite: Admission to sport nutrition certificate program or permission of instructor] Provides advanced study of the role nutrition plays in exercise and optimum nutrition requirements to enhance sports-specific performance
NTFD 5550 Current Trends in Sport Nutrition (3 credits) [Prerequisite: Admission to sport nutrition certificate program or permission of instructor] Provides opportunities to broaden sport nutrition knowledge by applying evidence-based guidelines and research to develop a comprehensive nutrition program for a sport-specific athlete

1 - a) Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in nutrition, dietetics, exercise science, exercise physiology, kinesiology, athletic training, physical therapy or closely-related field or a) Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) b) Registered Dietitian (RD), c) graduate student currently enrolled in a dietetic internship/supervised practice accredited by Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
2 - At least 3 credits in Anatomy and Physiology or Exercise Physiology
3 - At least 3 credits in Principles of Nutrition Science or Introduction to Nutrition Science
4 - Resume
5 - 3.0 or above cumulative GPA on undergraduate coursework
6 - 3 letters of recommendation
