However, the way we provide patient care has changed dramatically thanks to new technologies, breakthrough treatments and government regulations. ETSU recognizes that allied health professionals have an evolving role in a growing industry and we work to incorporate dynamic technologies into our degree completion program while being aware of changing regulations and the rising costs of healthcare. 

The ETSU Online Allied Health degree completion program is designed for healthcare providers in medical fields such as healthcare administration, surgical technology, medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, cardiovascular technology, physical therapy assisting, occupational therapy assisting and other healthcare delivery roles. This regionally accredited online Bachelor of Science in Allied Health, is built for working professionals and accepts more associate's degree transfer credits than normally transfer to a four-year institution.

In this program, students will build on their existing knowledge and enhance their communication, critical thinking, problem solving, research, and leadership skills. The program is extremely flexible in order to accommodate working allied health professionals and offers financial aid options and enrollment opportunities throughout the academic year (fall, spring, and summer semesters). This B.S. degree program in Allied Health is available entirely online, making it easy for students to balance their professional and personal lives while preparing them for higher salary and status categories or for a Master of Science in Allied Health here at ETSU or elsewhere. 

If you are certified, licensed, registered, or have completed an associate’s degree in healthcare or an approved related discipline, you can receive credit for what you already know and advance your degree in Allied Health Sciences.  This includes nursing!

  • Why should a student pursue this program at ETSU? What makes it unique?
    This fully-online Allied Health B.S. completion program gives students who have already completed an associate degree or certification in a medical field the chance to complete a bachelor’s degree in a relatively short period of time. While many 4-year universities will not accept most transfer credits from Associate of Applied Science or certificate programs, students who have already completed their associate degree or certificate are awarded up to 30+ credit hours of major courses through the online degree completion program. This allows students to complete their bachelor’s degree in as few as 30 credit hours of coursework—that's as little as two semesters.

    Students who graduate from the Allied Health online B.S. completion program may go on to leadership positions within the healthcare field, medical or pharmaceutical sales, or even teaching positions in allied health education programs. Students must have completed an associate degree or certification in a medical field—such as medical assisting, medical laboratory technology, cardiovascular technology, physical therapy assistant, or occupational therapy assistant—in order to be eligible for the Allied Health online B.S. completion program.

    Yes! The Allied Health online B.S. completion program is designed to be flexible and adaptable in order to meet the needs of students who work full time or have familial obligations. Students may also choose to go part time and take semesters off based on the demands of their busy lives.

  • How many spaces are available for each cohort?
    The Allied Health online B.S. completion program has an open enrollment policy, and there is no cap on the number of students who can enroll each semester.
