Overview

The Marketing program at East Tennessee State University offers study leading to the Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Marketing. Marketing majors may select one of three specializations. Programs are designed to equip students with conceptual foundations and practical skills necessary for entry-level positions in both private and public-sector organizations.

Program

ETSU's Marketing Degree focuses on creating and managing customers. It deals with the strategies and business processes involved in researching markets, deciding which markets to pursue, identifying what unique value to provide, and assembling the products, services, people, and partner firms needed to build, communicate and deliver that value.

 

The online B.B.A. in Marketing offers three concentrations that are 100% online:

  • Integrated Marketing Communications - 100% Online

  •  Marketing Analytics - 100% Online

    The Marketing Analytics specialization offers students an introduction to the analytical techniques and tools frequently used by practitioners that are best suited for particular situations (e.g., social network analysis/Polinode, visualization/Tableau, neural networks/RapidMiner, text analysis/Python). Students exit these classes with various certificates such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite Social Media, and Salesforce Trailhead Badges.

  •  Marketing Management - 100% Online

    This program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB).
  • What are the job prospects with this degree? 

    This degree prepares students for a broad range of opportunities, including but not limited to becoming a Marketing Assistant, Sales Representative, Admissions Representative, Social Media Manager, Public Relations Representative, Product/Brand Manager, Market Research Analyst, Media Planner, Meeting/Event Planner, or Fundraiser.
  • Are the courses for this program asynchronous or synchronous? 

    The Integrated Marketing Communications, Marketing Analytics, and Marketing Management concentrations are asynchronous and may be completed 100% online!
  • Does this program require an internship or field work? 
    No.
  • Is this program designed to meet the needs of adults who work full-time and/or have family obligations? 

    Yes.

  • What is the time to completion for full-time students?

    For students transferring to ETSU with an A.A. or A.S. degree in Business, the program can be completed in four (4) semesters. Otherwise, the completion timeline is six (6) to eight (8) semesters.

  • What is the time to completion for part-time students?

    This depends on the individual student's limitations and needs. 

  • Is there a plan of study/course schedule available for prospective students?

    Yes. There is a suggested course schedule for full-time students in the ETSU Undergraduate Catalog. Part-time students work with their advisor to develop a part-time plan based on their needs.

  • How many spaces are available for each cohort? 
    The Business Department is allowed to permit students into courses as necessary.
