This discipline is extremely diverse, including areas like: community, religion, sociological theory, collective behavior, environment, health, demography and aging, and much more. Students leave equipped with the knowledge and skills to navigate contemporary societal challenges and to help build more equitable and inclusive communities.
A Versatile Degree
Students have the option to pursue either a Bacholor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology to further their understanding of group behavior.
A Bachelor of Science in Sociology is ideal for students interested in applying their knowledge to indistries like business analysis, project management, accounting, human resources, or nursing.
A Bachelor of Arts in Sociology is ideal for students interested in applying their knowledge to industries like advertising, visual and performing arts, political science, education, or non-profit organizations.

Students will be taught, from a global perspective, the technical and analytical skills needed to succeed in a variety of careers. Career areas may include social and public services (community health worker, child health specialist, etc.), program support, management, education, marketing research or social science research, and more!

How many credits do I need to complete this degree?
To earn a bachelor's degree from ETSU, you must complete at least 120 credit hours total.
If you are a transfer student, the Office of Admissions evaluates your transfer credits and determines how many additional credits are needed to meet graduation requirements.
Generally, to graduate from ETSU, you must meet the following credit hour requirements:
- Complete a minimum of 120 total degree credit hours total (including transfer credits).
- 50 of these credit hours need to be earned from a four-year college or university, with a minimum of 30 credit hours from ETSU.
