The Dr. Brenda White Wright Emerging Leaders Academy is an eight-week leadership development experience for first- and second-year ETSU students who are interested in growing as leaders, serving others, and becoming more engaged on campus and in their communities.
Designed for students with leadership potential — whether they already hold leadership roles or are just beginning to build confidence in their abilities — the Academy helps participants develop the knowledge, skills, and relationships needed to lead with purpose at ETSU and beyond. Diversity of experiences, perspectives, and identities is valued and encouraged throughout the program.
Participants take part in:
-
- An overnight Emerging Leaders Advance focused on connection, leadership development, service, and personal growth
- Eight weekly cohort sessions featuring interactive activities, speakers, reflection, and goal-setting
- Meaningful conversations about leadership, values, communication, service, and community engagement
- A graduation ceremony celebrating participants’ accomplishments and growth
Through the Academy, students will:
-
- Develop and strengthen leadership skills
- Build confidence and self-awareness
- Expand their understanding of important issues and perspectives
- Form meaningful personal and professional connections
- Grow as engaged leaders committed to service and positive change
Applications for the Spring 2027 cohort open August 17.
