2018-19 Budget Call TIMELINE
- December: Each Vice President will meet with their respective staff to: review multiyear strategic priorities, plans, goals and benchmarks; present current and projected budget information; and answer questions regarding the budget. It is anticipated that any reallocations among units will have been discussed in an open and transparent manner.
- December: Following the approval of the October Revised Budget by the Board of Trustees, budget instructions and forms will be provided to Vice-Presidents for distribution across their respective units/divisions. This will include information on each unit’s calculated base budget and will include the required two percent reduction amount for planning purposes.
- December – Mid-January: Vice Presidents will finalize their respective unit budgets for submission to the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) (Due on January 17, 2018).
- Mid-January: The BAC will hold public forums and each Vice President will present their prioritized budget proposals. The materials associated with these budget presentations will distributed to the campus via the University Council website prior to the budget hearings. The campus community will have an opportunity to submit comments and feedback on these presentations via the University Council website. Public comments will be provided to the members of the BAC for their consideration in advance of the meeting at which they will deliberate and prepare their budget recommendation for the 2018-19 academic year.
- January 29 – February 7: The Governor’s proposed budget will be announced during the State of the State address and the ETSU Budget Call may be adjusted accordingly to align with the Governor’s proposed budget.
- February 23: Presentation of proposed salary and fee increases to Finance and Administration Committee of the Board of Trustees, as well as any revisions to the compensation plan for 2018-19.
- February 26 - March 2: The Budget Advisory Committee will review the cumulative materials presented through the budget process and submit a prioritized budget recommendation to the President’s senior leadership team.
- Mid-March: The President will meet with the university’s senior leadership team to review the BAC recommendation and develop the final budget for presentation to the University Council.
- April 9: Final budget presentation provided to the University Council for their review and discussion.
- April 27: ETSU Board of Trustees will vote on the budget, recognizing that final legislative action on the budget (and THEC’s fee directives) are received mid-May and could include information impacting the proposed budget.
